Job Summary
Qualifications
The applicant will possess:
- Appropriate Trades Qualification (TQ) Certificate in Refrigeration, Plumbing or Heating supplemented by Controls Maintenance training plus two (2) years experience in a maintenance environment after completion of the TQ, including servicing DDC controlled HVAC systems and instrumentation experience.
- A Gas fitter Class ‘B’ Contractor’s License. Plumbing experience would also be an asset.
- Working knowledge of computer operation and software applications related to work performed.
- Sufficient physical strength, health and coordination to perform the duties and responsibilities of the job.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and harmoniously with staff, students, parents, contractors and outside agencies, and the ability to work at the level of independence and with the degree of initiative appropriate to the position and a valid BC Driver’s License.

School District No. 42 (SD42) meets the learning needs of approximately 16,000 students of all ages in Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows, and is defined by its determination to keep student learning and growth at the heart of all its decisions. With an annual budget of over $200M and over 2,000 staff, the school district provides K-12 educational services in 22 elementary schools, six secondary schools, and two alternate schools. It also provides a variety of certificate programs and relevant quality life-long learning opportunities through Ridge Meadows College and Continuing Education.
SD42 is looking for a qualified applicants interested in working as an HVAC Mechanic. The HVAC Mechanic performs maintenance on the heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems of the plant to ensure the safety and full use of buildings and facilities. This position maintains, installs, repairs and tests a variety of heating, ventilating and air conditioning systems, and repairs and calibrates pneumatic and electronic controls and thermostats. The position lays out, reads and interprets plans, drawings and specifications of district buildings and facilities in accordance with by-laws and codes.
This is a full-time continuing position effective as soon as possible, following a 12 month schedule (40 hours per week), working day shift. Rate of Pay $40.76/Hour plus comprehensive benefits package.
