Job Summary
Qualifications
Applicants must have:
- Interprovincial Trades Qualification (TQ) in Electrical with a Red Seal endorsement;
- A minimum of 4 years’ experience in a variety of electrical work;
- Sufficient physical strength and health to perform the duties of the position are required;
- A valid Class 5 BC Driver’s license.
- Experience and training working on fire alarm systems is considered an asset.
- Experience working in an institutional setting is a bonus!
Description/Duties
4 Temporary, Full-time AFG* CUPE positions available
*Annual Facilities Grant term positions are effective July 1st to June 30th with the potential for annual renewal and the opportunity to apply for a continuing, full-time electrical position. The start date for these AFG positions is as soon as possible.

Reporting to the Foreperson and Electrical Manager, these positions are responsible for a variety of projects including renovations, repairs, and new installations in over 140 school district sites and offices. The ideal candidates must be team-players and ready to be part of a cohesive, effective department of professionals who hold great pride in their work. The department requires applicants to be prepared to work effectively in a small team as well as independently to complete top quality work in various District facilities.

These positions will work afternoon shifts Monday to Friday with some requirement for day shifts as needed. The successful applicants will have access to top-quality tools and equipment, a well-maintained fleet of vehicles and work out of the beautiful District Facilities Centre located in the heart of Surrey.
This is a unionized position that offers a 37.5 hour work week with an hourly wage rate of $40.27, plus a benefits package: municipal pension, health, vacation & sick benefits. Effective date per collective agreement.
