Qualifications
- Completion of Grade 12.
- Apprenticeship and/or Trades Qualification Certificate (Glazier).
- B.C. Driver's License.
- Ability to perform a variety of skilled tasks in the installation and maintenance of glass and mirrors.
- Thorough and current knowledge of the standards, practices, regulations, methods, tools and equipment of the trade.
- Ability to communicate effectively using courtesy and tact in the explanation and exchange of information.
- Ability to determine, judge and select appropriate course of action within limits of established methods and procedures.
- Skill in the use of tools of the trade.
- Physical ability to perform the required duties.
Description/Duties
The Langley School District is situated on the traditional unceded territories of the Matsqui, Kwantlen, Katzie, and Semiahmoo First Nations. Reports to the Carpenter Foreman/Leadhand, and installs, maintains and repairs glazing in the school district buildings.
POSTING DETAILS
Position - Glazier
Start Date - As soon as possible
Employment - Term, Full-time (40 hrs/wk)
Hours - Monday to Friday (7:30am to 4:00pm)
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Cuts, prepares, edges, fabricates and installs all types of glass and mirrors.
- Prepares work order estimates of time and materials.Installs, maintains and/or repairs screens.
- Measures and orders replacement sealed glazing units.
- Orders and maintains an adequate supply of stock.
- Assists with carpentry duties as required.
- Operates tools and equipment of the trade.
- Respond to emergency situations as requested.
- Inspects (daily) and operates a service vehicle.
- Performs other assigned comparable duties which are within the scope of knowledge,
- Skills and abilities required by this class specification.
