Job Summary
Qualifications
- Completion of Grade 12.
- Apprenticeship, and/or Trades Qualification Certificate (Plumbing, including Class "B" Gas Fitter's Ticket) or willingness to certify.
- Two year's experience in an institutional/commercial setting.
- Cross Connection Control Certificate or willingness to certify.
- B.C. Driver's License.
- Ability to perform a variety of skilled tasks in the installation, maintenance and repair of plumbing and gas components and equipment.
- Thorough and current knowledge of the standards, practices, regulations, methods, tools and equipment of the trade.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and work sketches.
- Ability to communicate effectively using courtesy and tact in the explanation and exchange of information.
- Ability to determine, judge and select appropriate course of action within the limits of established methods and procedures.
- Physical ability to perform the required duties.

Reports to the Plumber Foreman and installs, maintains and repairs plumbing and gas components and equipment.
POSTING DETAILS
- Position – Plumber/Gas Fitter
- Start Date - As soon as possible
- Employment - Permanent, Full-time (40 hrs/wk)
- Hours - Monday to Friday (7:30am to 4:00pm)
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Installs, maintains and repairs water, fire sprinkling and sewage systems.
- Installs, maintains and repairs domestic and school lab gas equipment.
- Collects samples and data from sewage pumping stations (septic fields).
- Maintains sports field irrigation systems including Fall winterization.
- Maintains an adequate stock of material.
- Operates tools and equipment of the trade.
- Respond to emergency situations as requested.
- Inspects (daily) and operates a service vehicle.
- Performs other assigned comparable duties which are within the scope of knowledge, skills and abilities required by this class specification.
