Building Carpenter
Job Summary
Qualifications
Education: Completion of secondary school is required.
Experience: A minimum of 2 years of experience is required. If the candidate does not have at least 2 year of experience, then a post-secondary education certificate is required.
Work under different weather conditions.
Driver’s license type 5 is required.
Work conditions and physical capabilities: Bending, crouching, kneeling, Combination of sitting, standing, walking, Handling heavy loads, Overtime required, Physically demanding, Tight deadlines, Fast-paced environment, Work under pressure, Repetitive tasks, Manual dexterity, Attention to detail, Standing for extended periods.

Work site environment: Noisy, Dusty, Outdoors.

Description/Duties

Work Location: Same as above and various worksites across Vancouver and the Lower Mainland area.

Job Description:
- Build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring and erect walls and roof systems
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings and sketches to determine specifications and calculate requirements
- Measure, cut, shape, assemble and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel and other materials
- Identify areas of weakness and fixing problems in damaged structures
- Ensure finished structures are safe and can weather some damage
- Assist with storage, lifting, fetching supplies, load, unload and check deliveries and undertaking tasks to assisting carpenter generally
- Maintain accurate worksheets and records/documentation
- Perform work as directed by the supervisor
- Work with materials and hardware power tools
- Transport materials to different worksites
Salary: $30.00 per hour, 42.5 hours per week.

Important information: The regular schedule will be from Monday to Friday from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM. However, flexibility on schedule is required. Work on weekends and overtime may be required depending on the business’ needs.
