Job Summary
Qualifications
Required Knowledge, Education, Ability and Skills:
- Certification as a Red Seal Painter
- Sound knowledge of paints and experience in their applications
- Ability to prepare surfaces for painting, apply paint, varnish, stain, enamel or lacquer to interior and exterior surfaces using brushes, rollers and spray equipment
- Ability to mix required portions of pigments, oils and other additives to paints
- Knowledge and ability to sign fabrication and installation
- Methods used in the operation and maintenance of brushes and equipment
- Painting safety practices, including the rigging and use of scaffolds
- Skill in the use of airless sprayers and spray techniques
- Class 5 Drivers’ License – drivers abstract
- Ability to perform required duties with minimal supervision
- Maintain accurate records and document actions taken
- Excellent communication skills when dealing with staff, students and the public.
Description/Duties
It is acknowledged that the Quesnel School District operates on the Traditional Territory of the Lhtako Dene Nation. The School District serves about 2900 students with one grade 10-12 secondary school, a grade 8-9 junior school, a secondary alternate school and 12 elementary schools. The district has a K-12 French Immersion program, an Indigenous Education Department and a Learning Services Department.
The population of Quesnel and surrounding area is approximately 25,000. The average price for a house is $202,325. In addition to retail outlets, Quesnel has an airport with service to Vancouver. The area has a number of outdoor activities such as both downhill and cross-country skiing, fishing, hunting, hiking and a nine-kilometer walking trail in the city around the Fraser River. There are a number of organized sports and cultural organizations. In addition to two arenas, a recreation centre, and a curling rink, Quesnel has an indoor soccer facility that is used year-round.

Days and hours: 8 hrs/day (7:30am to 4:00pm)
Rate of Pay: $35.71 per hour
Job Commences: ASAP
