Job Summary
Qualifications
Professional Cook Journeyperson certification and Grade 12 or equivalent. Experience should include a minimum of 5 years’ varied field experience as a Journeyperson and 5 years in a supervisory capacity. A Provincial Instructor Diploma or other relevant teaching certification and experience are preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- A valid Class 5 Driver’s license
- Demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching with the ability to inspire and mentor learners of all ages
- Knowledge/experience with experiential teaching formats and/or field schools
- Knowledge and enthusiasm for the best practices in equity, diversity, and inclusion in teaching
- Ability to function effectively across cultures, particularly with Indigenous communities
- Demonstrated ability to work efficiently and accurately in a collaborative team environment
- Excellent organizational, communication and facilitation skills
- Intermediate computer skills (word processing, excel, email)
Description/Duties
The Instructor will facilitate learning and is responsible for ensuring student success. This includes course preparation, teaching and guiding students, providing feedback, correction, encouragement, and direction. In addition, the instructor will oversee and ensure health and safety, complete the related administrative, record keeping and monitoring activities as well as other related duties as required. The instructor can be based out of Smithers or Hazelton.
Travel will be required for the delivery of the West Coast Culinary program land-based/field components that will be delivered in Terrace.
