Forklift Mechanic
Job Summary
Qualifications
Education: Completion of secondary education is required
Experience: At least 5 years of experience with material handling equipment is required.
Work conditions and Physical capabilities: Work under pressure, Hand-eye coordination, Ability to distinguish between colours, Handling heavy loads, Manual dexterity, Attention to detail, Combination of sitting, standing, walking, Standing for extended periods, Bending, crouching, kneeling.
Weight Handling: Up to 23 kg (50 lbs.)
Personal suitability: Excellent oral communication, Efficient interpersonal skills, Reliability, Client focus, Accurate, Judgement, Team player, Organized.
Driver’s License class 5 is required
Work Site Environment: Noisy, Dusty, Odours, At heights, Hot, Outdoors
Language: English is required.
Description/Duties
Business Address: 2000 Barnes St, Penticton, British Columbia, V2A 4C3
Work Location: Various locations across Penticton, BC and 40 km around the surrounding area.
Type of Employment: Full time – Permanent
Anticipated Start Date: As soon as possible
Job Duties:
- Inspect and test engines to diagnose and isolate faults
- Adjust, repair or replace mechanical or electrical system parts
- Perform scheduled maintenance and service
- Advise customers on work performed and condition of equipment
- Repair and rebuild hoisting mechanism and other mechanical systems on industrial trucks and forklifts
- Review work orders and discuss work with supervisor
- Test and adjust repaired equipment for proper performance
- Keep maintenance reports and documentation
- Installation and alignment of engines and machinery
- Occasionally drive to attend to service calls
Salary: $35.00 hourly, 40 hours per week
