Job Summary
Qualifications
- Must have completed schooling (technical training and written exam) Level 2 or 3 (Actively in 3rd and 4th year of apprenticeship)
- Must have completed the minimum hours of work-based training:
- 3rd year (2nd year completed): 3180 hours
- 4th year – 1-6 months (3rd year completed): 4770 hours
- 4th year – 7-12 months (3rd year completed): 5565 hours
- Must provide required documentation to verify schooling and work-based training requirements have been met
- Must have a strong safety awareness
- Must be willing to complete the remainder of the apprenticeship program and become a Journeyman Millwright.
Description/Duties
THE OPPORTUNITY
We are currently seeking 3rd and 4th year Millwright Apprentices with industrial experience to join our Saltair Sawmill Operation in Ladysmith BC, on Vancouver Island.
These are hourly unionized positions with competitive wage rates from $39.70- $42.00/hour, depending on the current level of apprenticeship and as outlined in the collective agreement.
These positions are considered safety sensitive, all successful candidates will be subject to a pre-employment drug test.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Reporting to the Maintenance Superintendent, Millwrights are required to safely perform quality work, provide support services, and perform preventative maintenance processes that pertain to optimum mechanical performance of our facility including, but not limited to:
- Repairs or replacements of mechanical components & machinery
- Rigging and slinging
- Troubleshooting mechanical machinery
- Welding repairs
- Hot work and lock out protocols
- Knowledge of hydraulic systems
