The successful candidate will have suitable post-secondary education and professional development, coupled with demonstrated experience directly related to the job duties. At minimum, candidates will have completed two years of post-secondary studies in food and nutrition management, business management, or another relater field. Furthermore, they must hold a Canadian Society of Nutrition Management (CSNM) certification or a TQ COOK certificate, along with having completed the FOODSAFE Level 1 course. Last, a minimum of three (3) years of related experience is also required.

Description/Duties
Help oversee our food services program and provide nutritious food to Vancouver students
Situated on the shared traditional territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations, the Vancouver School Board (VSB) is an exciting, progressive, and dynamic school district providing a rich array of educational opportunities for more than 50,000 learners from kindergarten to adults. Join our team as Supervisor - Food Services of VSB Operated Cafeterias, with operational oversight of ten (10) cafeterias in the District, offering food services to over 5,000 elementary and secondary students each day, including the Lunch2go/Breakfast2go programs, which provide meals to vulnerable students.
Reporting to the Manager of Food Services, you will coordinate operational oversight and support for approximately 40 cafeteria support staff, provide monthly financial and operational reports to the district, coordinate food safety regulatory standards, and implement the District Food Safe Plan in VSB-Operated Cafeterias. As a Professional Cook or Food Service Supervisor, you are able to maintain food safe plans and meet required Vancouver Coastal Health regulatory standards, licenses, and permits.
With three (3) to five years of supervisory experience in cafeteria, catering, or commercial food services (along with experience supervising in a unionized work environment) you bring exceptional organizational skills to this role.
In this position you will also supervise the Lunch2go/Breakfast2go commissary production kitchens at two secondary school cafeterias to produce approximately 1,000 meals per day. You will supervise production staff to prepare these meals in accordance with a set district menu.
Your proficiency in Excel, Word, and Outlook (as well as other computerized programs for food orders, inventory, and point of sale) will enable you to expertly administer food and supply contracts, coordinate consolidated supply orders, receive goods, manage inventory controls, and approve invoices for the Lunch2go/Breakfast2go and cafeteria programs. You will also be responsible for coordinating business data collection for cafeteria operations.
